Counselling &
Clinical Education

Meet Michaela Gage
Michaela Gage is a Registered Psychotherapist, former Police Officer, and the Founder and Clinical Director of MRG Counselling and Clinical Education. Drawing on her background in law enforcement and years of clinical practice, Kel specializes in supporting first responders, veterans, frontline professionals, and
others living with the effects of trauma, occupational stress injuries, PTSD, burnout, and chronic stress. She understands the unique culture of high-pressure professions—the expectations, the responsibility, and the silent weight that often comes with serving others.
As a certified trauma therapist, Kel integrates evidence-based approaches with practical, skills-focused interventions that help clients build resilience, strengthen relationships, regulate their nervous systems, and reconnect with the life they want to live. Her approach is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that healing is possible, even after years of carrying heavy burdens.
While much of her work is dedicated to first responders and their families, the principles she teaches are relevant to anyone seeking lasting change. Whether you’re navigating trauma, anxiety, relationship challenges, or simply feeling overwhelmed by life, Kel helps clients move beyond surviving and toward living with greater clarity, purpose, and confidence.
Outside of the office, Kel is a wife, mother of five, and someone who understands firsthand the realities of balancing family, service, and life’s inevitable challenges. That lived experience continues to shape the warmth, authenticity, and practicality she brings to every client she serves.
Our Clinical Team
Every clinician at MRG Counselling and Clinical Education is a former first responder. We know this world because we’ve lived it. We understand the culture, the demands, the humour, the responsibility, and the unspoken realities that come with serving others. That lived experience, combined with advanced clinical training, allows us to provide therapy that is both informed and deeply relatable.
Whether you’re navigating trauma, operational stress injuries, burnout, relationship challenges, anxiety, or simply the cumulative weight of a career spent helping others, you’ll be working with someone who understands the unique context of your experiences.
While our practice has a strong focus on first responders, veterans, frontline
professionals, and their families, we also welcome individuals from all walks of life who are looking to heal, grow, and build a more fulfilling life. We offer both in-person and virtual counselling to meet you where you are. In-person appointments are available in Kingston, Ottawa, and Perth, with secure virtual sessions available across Ontario.
